Lahaina recovery
The County of Maui counts the wildfire rebuild in Lahaina and Kula on its recovery dashboard, from its own permit system. As of the dashboard's update of September 15, 2026: 604 homes completed and ready to live in, 415 under construction, 679 with permits issued and 530 with permits being processed.

Debris removal, as the dashboard reports it (updated January 5, 2026): 1,390 of 1,390 residential lots and 148 of 148 commercial and public lots cleared. Historic structures shored and braced: 6 of 6 .

The dashboard covers Lahaina and Kula together and says its residential figures are compiled from the county's permit system (MAPPS). The dashboard prints the same three figures twice: once as single-family and multifamily units, once as residential and non-residential building permits (non-residential including commercial properties, properties with four or more dwelling units, and all Puamana permits).
