Editorial policy

The Hawaiʻi Ledger is owned and published by Weaver Media Group; its publisher, Chris Weaver, is responsible for what it publishes. The full rules are on the standards page. In short:

Sourcing

Every item is linked to the government's own document, and each page names its source and the date it was read.

How pages are made

Pages are generated from public records by script. Scripts copy the record; they do not write it. Each page names its source and the date it was read. The briefs are written by the Ledger from the records linked in each sentence; they say what is on the record, in plain words, and do not predict outcomes or take sides.

Sponsors and money

Sponsors buy adjacency, never content. No candidate for office can buy anything. The reader list is never sold or shared. More on the about page.

Photographs

Photographs are public domain, U.S. government work, or used under a Creative Commons license with attribution, and each is credited where it appears with a link to its source and license. A file photo is labeled as one.
