The layer prints names in capitals without ʻokina or kahakō. Hilo appears in the Place Names layer; the district names North and South Kohala, North and South Kona, Kaʻū, Puna and Hāmākua do not, and carry the spellings the state's own agendas use (Kaʻū, as the Board of Land and Natural Resources printed it Sept. 25, 2026). Council districts listed for an area are those covering at least 3% of its land area in the state GIS layer 'Hawaii County Council Districts' (AdminBnd MapServer/10).
