Answers · Property tax on Oʻahu
When is the deadline to apply for a home exemption on Oʻahu, and how much is it?
Apply by September 30, 2026, the Real Property Assessment Division's site says; its calendar lists September 30 as the deadline for filing exemption claims and tax credit applications.
Effective July 1, 2027, the division lists a $140,000 home exemption, and $180,000 for those 65 years and older, increasing from the current $120,000 and $160,000 amounts.
If you have an existing home exemption and there is no change in the property title or use of the property, the division says you do not need to reapply.
The same calendar lists November 1 as the deadline for reporting changes affecting exemptions.
