The proposed Keʻehi Lagoon Beach Park Improvements Project consists of three main elements: a) the reconstruction of the park’s Comfort Stations 1 and 2; b) the demolition of the existing Comfort Station 2; and c) the improvement of the existing onsite maintenance facility. The Project is not proposing to change the uses of the site beyond existing uses. The reconstruction of the comfort stations is to replace the original Comfort Station 1 that had been demolished in 2025 due to fire damage, and to replace the existing Comfort Station 2 that has sustained substantial termite damage and is subject to flooding. The existing Comfort Station 2 will be kept in service until the construction of the replacement Comfort Station 2 is completed. The existing maintenance facility is no longer sufficient to accommodate the equipment and employees to maintain 20 City & County of Honolulu parks in the area. Improvements to the existing maintenance facility site will include a replacement office with desks and lockers for the 15-20 workers that are deployed to the parks in the area for maintenance daily. Additional restrooms will be added as needed to better accommodate park employees. Improvements will also include the addition of secure storage for maintenance equipment.
