Does my car need a safety inspection in Hawaiʻi?
Yes, every year. Hawaiʻi law requires all motor vehicles, including motorcycles and mopeds, to undergo an annual safety inspection, the Department of Customer Services says; inspections are done at authorized stations listed by the Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation.
Proof of Hawaiʻi motor vehicle insurance is required to get an inspection, and the inspection sticker and certificate are needed to drive on Hawaiʻi roads and for every vehicle registration transaction, the department says.
